Anita Faber - Vocals

Anita Faber, wife of George Faber, started taking her first piano lessons at the age of 6 along with her older sisters and continued to take lessons including beginning classical  throughout high school.  Her first debut to sing in front of an audience was “How Great Thou Art” at the age of 8 and her first experience to play for church was at her dad’s church at the age of 12.  She continued to play for church growing up and started playing and conducting Mt. Hebron Baptist  Church Young Adult Choir in Henderson, Texas at the age of 15 and maintained the choir until graduating from high school.

While attending Tyler Jr. College and Stephen F. Austin State University, she was the church organist for Mother Zion Baptist Church (home church) in Henderson, Texas.  While attending SFASU, she was a member of  the Nacogdoches Interdenominational Youth Choir, better known as IYC  where she first met her husband George while singing in the choir.   As a student, she also helped to organize and became the musician for a Gospel Choir for students on campus at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Anita is a 1983 graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University with a  Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Art with an Endorsement in Special Education - after graduating from SFA, she married George in 1984.

As an assistant to her husband at North Star Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas, Anita directed the R.L Lemons Mass Choir from 1984 - 2001. In addition to directing the church choir, she also directed State Convention Choirs, local Music Workshop Choirs, and the Gospel Choir for Green Acres Baptist Church assisting her husband George.   Although her background has always been gospel, with her own style of soprano and with George’s versatility in styles of music, she has been inspired to sing other genres of music with Faber and Friends Band and others, including singing background vocals for several recording studios.

After spending 30 years in education, Anita retired from Tyler Independent School District (2016) as a Math Intervention  Specialist/Teacher and Dept. Head at Moore MST (Math, Science & Technology) Magnet School .
